WEEKLY HOMEWORK

To check what homework your child should be getting and to find out what day it will come home, and what day it is due in, please check the homework timetable below.

Remember that until children have a reading age of at least 9 years they should be reading every day to an adult at home; as well as reading in school regularly. A child's reading age will very often be different to their actual age - if you are in any doubt whether your child should be reading daily at home please ask their teacher.

The levels of homework provided will match the expected standard for the age group of the child. Amount of homework provided will also be proportionate to age. We strongly believe that substantial amounts of evenings and weekends should be spent as down time and family time for other activities. However, research does indicate that a little bit of consistent weekly home learning supports the school curriculum and benefits pupils of every age group.

Handing in of homework tasks will be expected by each child. This teaches children good habits; to be punctual, to prioritise tasks and to take responsibility. These are all life skills that will aid the pupils as they get older. There maybe times where a piece of work in not handed in on time or not completed. We will encourage the children to give up some of their playtime in school to complete a task or to have a go. Completing any work in school will always be proportionate to the exercise.
